More Rooms & Rates = More Bookings??


Is it true that 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙜𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙣𝙪𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧 𝙤𝙛 𝙧𝙤𝙤𝙢𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙨 we offer, the more chances to get the booking ❓

How do you feel when you are shopping online and are exposed to dozens or even hundreds of different variations of the same product?

Empowered? Or Overwhelmed?

A hotel booking system, be it an OTA system or a booking engine, showing 50-60-70 or even more Book Now buttons, corresponding to as many number of available combinations of rooms and rates, is exactly the same thing.

So, empowered or overwhelmed?

Objectively, the answer comes from the OTAs who, we know, can afford to run intensive A/B tests on how people react to, well, everything.

Do you see any OTAs showing hotels with more than 20, 25 room-rate combos, tops?

Well, yes, sometimes, but never with hotels that are top-seller in their respective systems 🙂
